International year of fruits and vegetables

The UN General Assembly designated 2021 the International Year of Fruits and Vegetables (#IYFV). An initiative that addresses matters which are core for our company and that sets important objectives, such as:

  • raising awareness on the importance of fruits and vegetable for nutrition, food safety and health;
  • stimulating a debate around fruits and vegetables, acknowledging their impact on society, on the economy and on environmental sustainability;
  • promoting policies, regulations and guidelines based on good practices in the agricultural and food sector that would promote sustainable development and rural economic growth;
  • encouraging integrated and holistic approaches in addressing fruits and vegetable food systems that contribute to the achievement of SDGs targets and the 2030 Agenda of the United Nations;
  • promoting investments in research and innovation to encourage consumption of fruits and vegetables and to reduce their waste.

A sustainable production, at the service of a healthy and safe diet, leverages economic development by guaranteeing the needs of current generations without compromising those of the future ones.
