Menz & Gasser continues to invest in Italy: embracing the future, whilst preserving the past with the Sanguinetto project

Menz & Gasser was founded as a family-owned company in 1935. By leveraging its strengths in innovation and flexibility, Menz & Gasser has since been able to effectively export the excellence of its products to more than 50 countries. A long term vision combined with continuous research and an unbreakable bond with the country and environment has allowed the company to grow ever stronger, and even branch out into the savoury market. Through purchasing the new Sanguinetto facility, Menz & Gasser aims to anticipate future trends, respond to growing demand and find solutions to future challenges. The partnership with multinational company Unilever was confirmed during the meeting with the RSU [Unitary Workplace Union] and Labour Councillor Elena Donazzan, held at the Sanguinetto facility on 19 December. The goal is to create an important industrial centre that predominantly operates in Italy, uniting the excellence of the two companies to become a point of reference for the national food sector. With shared values and a common perspective, the two partners were quickly bound by a strong synergy.
Investing in Italy is an important decision. It’s a great opportunity both for the company from Trentino and for all the employees of Sanguinetto to strengthen their standing.
Matthias Gasser, CEO of Menz & Gasser, has decided to get back in the game by establishing the long-term project with the Anglo-Dutch multinational company Unilever which, to date, has more than 400 proprietary brands in the food sector. Some of the most famous brands in international history include: Hellmann’s mayonnaise, Lipton’s range of drinks and Algida (Wall’s) ice cream.
Novaledo will remain as the company’s headquarters, dedicated to the production of jams and fruit preserves, while Sanguinetto will be reserved first and foremost to savoury products that require specific facilities and environments.
Thanks to Menz & Gasser’s investment, current production will continue in Sanguinetto, including: jelly cubes, jarred jams, granular cubes and, above all, two new production lines will be added for Calvé mayonnaise and dehydrated Knorr soups.
During this unique historical and economic period which presents clear challenges and sometimes less obvious contradictions, having a presence on national soil has become not only a challenge, but an outright mission. The goal is to work as one powerful cohesive force powered by a shared dream: to build a secure future with a human face, in order to export Made-in-Italy excellence around the world. This mission can only be achieved by fostering respect for everyone involved: workers, consumers, fellow citizens, and above all, the environment that we all share and which is all too often overlooked when it comes to profit.
When two success stories join forces, the results are unstoppable.
