Sustainability and the Environment

Menz & Gasser’s social-responsibility commitments spring from a drive to create shared value. It inspires us to actively promote the social and cultural life of the area we call home and to safeguard the surrounding environment.

That is why we have invested heavily over the years in energy efficiency, in reducing our consumption of natural resources, and in using virgin vegetable biomass wood waste to produce renewable energy.

Sustainable development is development that secures the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.

Environmental sustainability

Menz & Gasser makes a real, practical commitment to protecting the environment. We have invested more than €10 million over the last 10 years in advanced technology to reduce the impact of our operations.

Our Novaledo factory, for example, was awarded ISO 14001:2004 environmental certification in 2013. Production and packing operations are carbon neutral, because we use electricity, heating and cooling energy from clean renewable sources, such as a solar farm, a biogas cogenerator fed by production waste, and a latest-generation wood biomass trigeneration system.

And that’s not all. We have also reduced our environmental impact by driving down consumption using inverters, LED lighting units, latest-generation high-efficiency compressors, and a modern, super-efficient cooling system.

We source all the water we need for industrial uses from two off-mains wells, and we have drastically reduced water use with a closed-circuit cooling-water system.
